Police Officers’ sue to be paid to put on uniforms…

Going through the local news on Yahoo! during the week, I came across this online article:

“Separate Upland police settlement involved putting on uniforms”

I couldn’t believe it when I first read it, and in fact, I had to read it twice! When individuals, as well as local, state, and federal government is pushing for cuts… Unemployment is at an all time high… Police Officer’s are suing the city to be paid for “putting on their uniforms”… come on now.

I have worked several jobs throughout my lifetime, to date, and have yet had a job in which I was paid to get dressed for. I have much respect for police officers and the work they do, however, this is absurd.

In the settlement, the city agreed to pay 12 sergeants and lieutenants a total of $24,120 and 58 police officers and detectives a total of $93,264. The city paid the union attorney’s firm $57,816.

Not only will the residents’ of the City of Upland look forward to the $175,200 bill that they will soon pay, I am sure this incident will spark or inspire other departments to do the same in a city near you.

Why stop here though, perhaps, even the employees at your local McDonald’s will join the suit…
